Following on from the governments statement on 4th January, and the latest guidance from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, we would like to update our clients with our latest practice protocols:
- For the duration of the national lockdown, we are having to postpone non-essential appointments. If your appointment needs to change, we will contact you directly, do NOT call us to enquire about your appointment, we need to keep our phone lines clear for emergencies and urgent calls.
- We are still working in two small teams, and our phone lines are always very busy. If you have a non-urgent query, please email us instead on info@oldregistryvets.com and we will aim to get back to you within 2 working days.
- We are postponing all booster vaccinations that are not due imminently. It is safe to leave 15 months between booster vaccinations for dogs and cats, so if your pet is due their booster now, we may ask you to wait until closer to the 15-month mark. Booster vaccinations for rabbits are going ahead as normal, as are primary vaccinations for puppies and kittens.
- We are increasing the use of telephone consultations and remote prescribing where applicable. If you are told that an appointment in person is not necessary, please listen.
- Our opening hours are not changing so we can try and space client appointments out as much as possible.
- We must ask that all clients wear a mask when talking to any staff member, this includes at the window, and in the car park. If you are exempt for medical reasons, please let us know and we can provide you with a face shield if appropriate.
- We are only able to stay open as long as our staff are healthy, so please always adhere to social distancing rules when interacting with our staff members.
- You may experience longer wait times for appointments and routine surgeries – we understand how frustrating this can be, but please remember that we are doing our best under exceptionally difficult circumstances to deliver as high a standard of care as possible.
- And finally, please always treat all staff members with respect and courtesy. We are all working under immense pressure and less than ideal circumstances to continue caring for your pets, whilst putting our health on the line.
